Daleville, VA

Hey everybody! We've reached the 1/3 mark of the AT, and we are right on track for finishing sometime in mid August. Andrew is slowly gaining his "trail legs," and the terrain has been excellent, even when the weather wasn't. The last few days have included several long and rocky ridgewalks with nice views from the Dragon's Tooth, McAfee Knob and Tinker Cliffs. We are all holding up well with the exception of a few pesky blisters, and we hope to be out of Virginia in a few more weeks. I know it has been a while since our last post, and I don't know if you have seen it on the news, but we were almost unfortunate enough to meet Randall Lee Smith back near Pearisburg. We here he's a real nice guy when he's not shooting hikers or fisherman. Anyway, this hotel has a time limit on the internet so anything else will have to wait. We hope everything at home is going as well as it is here. We love and miss you all!

Hey, Guys!

Glad you've found some 'civilization.' While I don't know Randall Lee Smith I have seen "Deliverance." Don't worry, Jess; you're safe.

We're headed for Chesapeake Bay, today. Prologue has been restless in her slip since we finished the bottom overhaul and this will be our first day in open water. Can't say our panoramas will be as spectacular as yours but we do have toilet facilities on board - with paper!

Best wishes to Andrew for his trail legs. Is that anything like athlete's foot?

Glad to hear things are going still going well. You guys are in my prayers.

Things here are dragging on. It looks like I'm extending my indentured servitude at UofL a bit. At least I know I'll be around when you two get back.

Good luck on the rest of your journey!

Just letting you know Steven and I are picking up your slack with the hybreds. I have never seen so many large fish in the river. We caught over 40 between 5-10 lbs just the other day. I don't suppose you packed a fly rod with you! Stay healthy.

Hi Jess and Jon! So you almost stepped on a copperhead? Whoa Nellie! The only thing I can think of scarier than stepping on a copperhead might be stumbling on a camp of Northerners! HA HA...be careful y'all. Step lightly! Those Yankees startle easily and their bites are mean! Uncle John.
