For all of you that don't speak New Yorker, that's forget about it. We are on a commuter train to the big apple and are excited to visit some friends and be tourists. New York and New Jersey have both been gorgeous, and, similarly to Kentucky, were preceded by undeserved poor reputations. We saw another huge black bear before crossing into New York, and we joined him in feasting on wild blueberries and blackberries. My birthday was simply celebrated by an afternoon pitstop at Irish Kevin's for a burger and beers. Although we were initially dissappointed that the local motel was full, we got to catch a great sunset from a cliff we camped on. We will be spending a couple of days in the city before returning to Bear Mountain, where we will push a couple days to the Conn. border. Spirits are high, now that the weather is cooperating, and we are hitting glacial lakes every day or so for swimming. We hope all is well at home, and we'll keep you posted on this big city nonsense. We haven't been around more than 10 people at a time in weeks, so this could get interesting. In case we don't get service later, happy birthday Mom!

stay strong friends, youall have made it so far!
Thank you for the birthday message. I am so excited for you guys, and a little jealous, to be spending the 4th in NYC. What an experience you are having. Hunter is great and got a pedicure the other day. Don't panic Jon, really it was just a trip to the vet for a nail trim. I am not turning him into a sissy...yet! BUT...he does love his grandma and grandpa. He has gained a pound and really misses his runs with jessica. No more dairy queen for him. We are looking forward to seeing you at the end. Be safe and God Bless. Love, mom, dad, hunter, jade, sadie and simon.
Holy Cow! NYC...I didn't realize that was on the trail. :) How fun! Mackenzie and Gavin are really enjoying following your adventures, as are we. We are all so proud of you and can't wait to hear more of the nitty gritty details.
Take care and please continue to keep us posted. We are ALL so very proud of you.

Miss you guys!! I knew you would kick that urge to come back. But seriously, we have better views; you really don't know what you're missing. I mean, you can't beat waking up at 3 AM to see a domestic dispute, followed by a subsequent arrest. And if we're lucky we'll catch a glimpse of a gang bang every now & then. There's really nothing like it.

Sounds gorgeous. Glacial lakes = good fishing. Enjoy the city.
Happy belated birthday.

I always found New Yorkers the most pleasant folks in the United States...particularly those bar owners who charged $8.50 for a Miller Lite...and $20.00 for a Falls City (premium beer is double+ the cost of others).
